About This Recipe
After partying, dancing in the rain, and getting very little sleep during a trip to Ireland, I caught a miserable head cold. On the long flight home, a kind Irish flight attendant noticed how awful I felt and offered to make me a Hot Toddy.
The warm combination of Irish whiskey, honey, lemon, and hot water was sweet, soothing, and exactly what I needed at that moment. This simple cocktail has been one of my favorite cold-weather drinks ever since.
Ingredients
• ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
• ½ ounce honey
• 1½ ounces Jameson Irish Whiskey
• Hot water, as needed
• Lemon wheel for garnish, optional
Instructions
Add the lemon juice, honey, and Irish whiskey to a heat-safe mug.
Top with hot water.
Stir until the honey is completely dissolved.
Garnish with a lemon wheel, if desired.
Serve warm and enjoy responsibly.
Rosie's Notes
A Hot Toddy may feel comforting when you’re under the weather, but it is not a medical treatment. Alcohol can contribute to dehydration and may interact with medications. Enjoy responsibly and skip the whiskey if alcohol isn’t appropriate for you.
